Welcome to Manchester Borough!

Welcome to Manchester Borough, a historic and vibrant community located in York County, Pennsylvania. Home to approximately 2,798 residents according to the 2020 U.S. Census, Manchester Borough is part of the greater York–Hanover Metropolitan Area and offers a unique blend of small-town charm, community pride, and rich local heritage.

Originally settled in 1814 as the village of Liverpool, the community was incorporated as Manchester Borough in 1869 within the eastern section of Manchester Township. Throughout its history, Manchester has played a role in significant events, including the Gettysburg Campaign of the American Civil War, during which the village’s merchants were raided by the 17th Virginia Cavalry.

Today, Manchester Borough remains a welcoming and family-oriented community dedicated to preserving its history while providing quality services, recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
